Pregnancies, breast feeding, weight fluctuations, and aging conspire to negatively affect the shape of your breasts. These factors might lead to loss of volume, decrease in consistency, loose skin and low hanging nipples and areola, all of which contribute to make you feel unappealing.
A mastopexy allows for the breast shape to be corrected, for the position of the nipple to be optimized, for volume to subtly increased or re-distributed, to regain consistency and overall provide more youthful appearing breasts.
A breast lift may also help establish symmetry when there is a developmental size or shape discrepancy between the breasts.
Dr. Mondolfi will inquire about your desired breast shape and size. During the interview, you should mention anything else about your breasts that you would like to see improved. This will help him understand your expectations and determine whether they realistically can be achieved.
He will then examine your breasts, evaluate their size and shape, the quality of your skin, the position of the nipples and areolas and the presence or absence of lumps or irregularities. All these factors will impact on the procedure he will recommend. Following this evaluation, you will talk about how your nipples and areolas should be re-positioned and the type of incisions and therefore the scars that will be necessary to achieve these goals.
Not infrequently, the drooping and sagging are associated with a loss of volume. When small increments are needed, the use of your own fat is a possibility. If more volume is required, the use of a breast prosthesis may be indicated.
